At the arcades

Was a long time I promised Wura to shoot together again. I had in mind for a while to shoot inside an arcade as well, so that’s it, I thought immediately about her. Coloured lights work better on dark skin for sure, so it was a perfect match. This was a new challenge for me, as the arcade lights are quite dim and I needed to use a wide aperture to make enough light pass through. Likely the Pentax K1 handles noise fantastically, so I could shoot even up to 1600 ISO without loosing any detail. The pentax 50mm 1.4 produced superb images at f/2.0 with incredible level of detail. The Tokina atx could even get close to it 28-70 2.8, but still did an amazing job.

More than noise, a worse enemy is blur. Hand-held and low light never work well together, so please mind your shutter speed! If it’s too slow, the Shake Reduction photo can help, but it can’t do miracles, especially if the model moves, even slightly.

Anyway, I am pretty happy with the results. They are exactly what I was looking for. When I did some initial tests, I wasn’t sure they would come out that good. Since it was again something new for me, I focused really too much on the global shoot, neglecting a bit the model. However Wura is super pro and she could do everything without much direction!
